The New Faculty Inservice was scheduled for Thursday, September 9, 2010. This was not the New Employee Orientation, but rather an inservice specific to your role on campus.
We met on Thursday morning at 8:00 in Building 9, Room 104 - The Opportunity Center. The President and other College VIP's began the morning and welcomed everyone.
After a quick 'tour' of the Opportunity Center, we spent the morning looking at the culture of Chemeketa, teaching adults and what those adults look like at Chemeketa, and how the brain learns so that we can make our classes more interactive and brain-rich for learning.
Frances Page of the Advising & Counseling Center shared My Game Plan and At-a-Glance for supporting students in their programs. Shannon Riggs and Colin Ensminger-Stapp shared the opportunities and support available in the Technology Hub.
Follow-up seminars will be scheduled soon. These are considered a part of your work and your Academic Directors have given their support to insure that you can attend. Check with them if you need coverage for future sessions.
